Hey! Check it out. Been quiet for a while, working on live show mastering and prog records. Good fun.
BUT
Here’s a little break for a pop song I mastered here a while ago for Dan Muckala and Landon Austin. It’s fun. You should watch it. While you’re at it, check out Landon’s youtube channel HERE and hear more of his goodness.
Yeah, it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these. Time to catch up people…’cause there’s a Numero Uno position held by Spoken’s single “Through It All” on the Radio & Records Christian Rock Chart. See, that’s fun, because I mastered it, and it kinda seriously rocks. Also fun is the little app to make the little circles over there. Fancy. I know. You may also notice that For A Season are climbing the chart there too, up to 6 for 11. There’s some happy dudes. What would this post be without a complete rundown? Shorter. I know. It won’t hurt much.
On the Christian AC Radio Chart…
#4 “Redeemed” from Big Daddy Weave (Also on the CHR Chart)
#14 “Good To Be Alive” from Jason Gray – 41 weeks on that chart!
#15 “Strangely Dim” From Francesca Battistelli (This one’s on the CHR Chart too)
On the Soft AC, we’ve got Francesca AGAIN with her “Strangely Dim” at #8, and Jason Gray’s “Nothing Is Wasted” bringin’ it all home at #18. Fun times. Lots of good songs. Hope ya like ’em.
Have a great weekend everybody!
What can I tell ya. I love the heavy stuff – if it has a good melody, riff and kick drums, I’m a goner. I mastered the new album from Spoken a few months ago – it’s finally out and rocking heads off with a tidy balance of all these things. Jasen Rauch produced it. He’s pretty awesome. Ainslie Grosser mixed it. He rocks too. The first single is currently #2 on the Radio & Records Christian Rock Chart.
Here’s the video. Utilize that volume knob/slider/clicky thing you use to make rock louder. Also click on the little gear in the corner to get the HD version. YouTube swishy cymbals are no bueno.
Hey, happy day! Hope you’re having a good one. Maggie, aka SubWoofer No.1, says hi too. I’m currently processing mixes for a live show, so it’s a very long record time, giving me a moment or three to ramble on while marking clicks and pops for removal once the sounds are set. Exciting, yes, I know. I’ve also had a cup of coffee that almost inspires me to misspell “nuclear” in it’s description, so I’m possibly a bit chatty.
Anyway, I just got off the phone with a new friend and client who knows of me from work I did on a record he worked on 7 or some crazy number of years ago, but he has better things to do than track down any amount of stuff I’ve worked on since then. So I figure it’d be nice to have a collection of stuff I’ve mastered, crossing pretty much all the genres I work in, that someone, say a Spotify user, could….you know….check out. So hey. Look. Here’s a Spotify playlist of 1008 songs I’ve mastered. It’s got a lot of genres and is in no way complete, but it’s certainly enough to get a feel for my goods and I update it from time to time. Maybe you wanna check ’em out. It covers all the flavors I’m good at. I dare ya to listen to them all.
Heavy goodness from Spoken. Their new album, “Illusion” was released today. A particular joy, since screaming, raging loud guitars playing very heavy riffs and monster sized kick drums pounding constantly are just about my favorite thing in music….nay….life. I reallyreallyreally like ’em. So of course, I’m super proud of this one and had a great time working and hanging a bit with producer and do-er of many things, Jasen Rauch. He’s done a couple records. If you’re a listener of heavy stuff, this definitely deserves your attention. It’s super fun.
Check out Illusion on iTunes HERE – and try not to get a speeding ticket.
The Aristocrats. What a band. Today they release “BOING! We’ll Do It Live! At Alvas Showroom” for your “heavy on the notes” consumption. These guys are bonkers. Thick on groove and heavy on tone. Guthrie Govan, Bryan Beller and Marco Minneman (Guitar, Bass, Drums, respectively) are at “as good as it gets” level. When they play together, it’s a choir of crazy awesomeness with no voices. They feel what’s going on between them and it’s effortless. They have a little musical quote in there that makes me laugh every time I hear it. It also sounds pretty nice, if I do say so myself. And I do. I totally say so myself.
This is the second “The Aristocrats” album I’ve done, (the first being the studio recordings of lots of what’s on this set) and I’ve also mastered a couple other productions that Bryan has produced. He’s got a keen ear, unmatched diversity and is one of those guys that makes ya want to do the extra bit, because it’s AWESOME. And of course, I do the extra bit. I’m the extra bit guy. Whaddywant.
They have a slick deluxe set that has a two CD set of the show, a DVD with stereo and surround of the show (no surround mastering from me…only the stereo stuff…for now…muahhhhahahah) There’s some none deluxe stuff too. Don’t bother with that. You want the extra goodness. Get the deluxe set.
Hey! Look! A video taste of the show! Watch it!
Tons more info, of course, can be found at The Aristocrats Website and at their facepagebooktubescreen
I like cheese.
Dig this one. Owen Thomas, formerly the dude driving the bus (not actually a bus driver) for The Elms, has a new album out this week that was, of course, mastered by this guy right here. (I mean me.) It’s been produced by Owen and his long time friend and former The Elms guitar playerizer, Thom Daughtery (who also recorded and mixed this record) over the last year or two, and there’s a bucket load of content with it. He’s got lyric videos and all kinds of stuff. It’s a very cool record with a number of vibes in a package that still fits together. Very fun stuff. I don’ t mind saying that I think it sounds KILLER.
Here’s one. You should watch it. Use the HD – it sounds better.
There’s a ton more music to be had at his website, RIGHT HERE, his facebook is HERE his twitter is HERE his Soundcloud is HERE if ya want it…geez. Dude has links for weeks. I’m done. Got some Winter Jam to finish.
Hey party people. Been a busy few weeks, so not so much blathering on the page here. Good times, good times. I hope you’ve missed me. If not…well. Ok.
So this is fun. Big Daddy Weave’s song “Redeemed” is a humongous hit. It’s high in the iTunes chart for….well…ever, it’s been there for months, and now they’re at #1 on the Radio & Records Christian AC Chart. That’s fun, right?!?! I figured you should know. Of course, I didn’t write the song. I can’t write a grocery list. But I sure did master that bad boy, and I gotta say…I’m pretty happy with it. Maybe you should go check it out on iTunes.
